We left Cedar Rail RV Park at the top of Raton Pass and headed to Woodland Park, Colorado. Our destination was 160 miles away - Diamond RV Park set at an elevation of 8400 feet. Woodland Park is 18 miles west of Colorado Springs on Highway 24 up Ute Pass.
Woodland Park is the best of both worlds - close to the Springs for any major shopping that needs to be done but also up in the mountains with incredible places to explore.
We are camped in site #23. Great wifi as we are close to the office. Downside of this site is that it is on the main road of the park (160+ sites) and all roads are dirt. So it can be quite dusty at times. Quirky rule that air conditioners can only be used if you are at a 50 amp site and pay an additional fee of $4.00 a day or $70.00 a month. However I must admit that with nighttime temps in the 40's to 50's and day time temps in the 70's to low 80's, air conditioning is not needed.
As soon as we turned out of the campground and headed toward town, there in all its glory was Pikes Peak.
