Off to Explore Mora and Surrounding Area

In continuing with our circle theme, today we drove another circular route.  This time we went to Angel Fire and headed out of town on HWY 434 past the lake community of Black Lake.  Our goal was to have lunch at Hatcha's Restaurant in Mora.  We would then take the high road to Taos.

What we discovered was one of the most scenic roads that we had yet to be on from Black Lake to the turn off for Coyote Creek State Park.

This narrow windy road went through some gorgeous tree lined meadows.  An meandering stream was often running along the side of the road.

We are still in awe of the crystal clear water in the mountain streams - so different from our red water in Oklahoma.

We came down into an open meadow.

And went past fields of yellow daisies.

We finally arrived in the town of Mora and located Hatcha's for lunch.  Yummy authentic New Mexico food.

After leaving Mora, we followed NM 518 back to Taos.  This took us over the "high road to Taos", going along a mountain ridge. These are just some of the pictures I took of the scenery as it unfolded in front of us.
